MEET GEO

Geovani Salazar

My name is Geovani Salazar. I’m a proud first-generation American and the son of Mexican immigrants. West Valley City has been my home for most of my life. I attended Monroe Elementary and West Lake Junior High before my family temporarily moved out of state. As soon as I was old enough to work, I returned to West Valley, where I’ve since put down roots—purchasing a home, raising a family, and committing myself to the community I was raised in.

I grew up in a working-class family. My father took me to work with him during summer break, cleaning yards, mowing lawns, and building fences. My mother cared for us at home and at times also worked when she could, often relying on me to look after my younger siblings.

Like many first-born children of immigrants, I grew up knowing that I would one day support not only my family but also my parents—and perhaps even my siblings. And with basic living necessities rising, we will need to help our children too.

So believe me when I say, I know what it takes.

We need representation from our government that reflects the communities in West Valley. We need a candidate that represents family, a candidate that represents those establishing their roots, and a candidate that is in the trenches with the working class and understands that change needs to happen for our future as West Valley and is not stuck on policies that brought us here but policies that propel us forward.

I’m running to bring forward-thinking, people-first policies to our city council. Policies that don’t just react to the past, but push West Valley forward—toward opportunity, equity, and long-term growth for every family and individual who decides to make West Valley their home!
