We’ve seen rising costs in power and water utilities, adding to already high living expenses. Many families are now forced to cut back on other essential needs just to keep up with their utility bills.

Salazar will work to ensure greater accountability and fairness in utility pricing and fight for policies that ease the financial burden on working families.

Protecting Our Communities

It’s devastating to see images of mothers and fathers torn from their families. These aren’t criminals being taken away—it’s hardworking, everyday people, targeted simply for trying to build a better life.

As the child of Mexican immigrants, I carry their struggles with me—and I feel a deep, personal obligation to stand up for every community suffering from this kind of injustice.

Many West Valley families rely on afterschool programs to ensure their children are safe, engaged, and supported while parents are at work. These programs are more than just extracurricular—they are essential resources that help youth gain skills not taught in schools, improve academics, and support working families.

Due to federal budget cuts, many afterschool programs are now at risk. Geovani is committed to supporting a budget that prioritizes funding for these critical services and ensures our children and families are supported.

West Valley is full of entrepreneurial talent, but too many aspiring business owners lack access to the tools, resources, and support they need to get started or grow.

Salazar has a clear plan to support small businesses in West Valley. Priorities include expanding access to business programs, mentorship, and funding opportunities; reducing barriers to entry for new small businesses; and work to open more city projects to local businesses through fair and transparent bidding processes.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Everyone deserves to feel safe in West Valley City — whether they’re at home, attending a public event, or just making a quick trip to the store. No one should live in fear in their own community.

We need city leaders to be proactive in our communities, not wait for a tragedy to strike. Appropriately funding our first responders is only part of the solution. We need a dedicated team for responding to mental health crises when appropriate, as well as funding for violence prevention programs. Together, we have the power to make West Valley a safer place for everyone.
